You Get Tax Credit while supporting candidates

money wheelbarrowDear Fellow LC TEA members,

Are you tired of receiving requests for donations from political candidates asking to fund their campaigns?  I know I am. But I have recently been made aware of what I think is an exciting opportunity in which we can financially support true conservative candidates to help them get elected or reelected to the Ohio State House without actually giving away any of our hard earned dollars. Does that sound enticing enough for you to read on?  I hope so because it is absolutely true.

Because of Ohio Revised Code 5747.29 (http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/5747.29) we can make a donation of any amount up to $50 per Ohio taxpayer and then take that donation as a tax credit on your 2013 Ohio Income Tax return (See Schedule B Line 55 Ohio Political Contributions Credit).

Just exactly what does this mean?  The donation is eligible to be used as a tax credit; therefore, as long as you will owe at least $50 in Ohio income tax, the donation will offset $50 of any state income tax you owe. In other words if you don’t make the $50 donation to a candidate running for a state office, you will pay the $50 to the state. Thus, you are going to have to pay out $50 no matter what you do so wouldn’t you rather it go to the conservative candidate of your choice instead of to the Ohio General Fund?

Please click the link to watch a 3 minute video from Tom Zawistowski about why every conservative in Ohio needs to use their Ohio Tax Credit to support and defend the representative who has stood with our movement: Video – Support our Seven Conservative Candidates!

Then choose from the following conservative candidates or another Ohio House / Ohio Senate candidate to make your $50 donation. Please note that you can make a donation before the end of 2013 and take the tax credit for 2013. Then, you will also be able to do the same in 2014 to double how much you can help these candidates.
